Recharging for the Kuzi season....

After a long and busy season 17/18 we are taking a well deserved break during the rainy season. Our center will remain closed from the 24th of April until the 8th of June. We will mainly be using this time to unplug and recharge our batteries as we want to be able to assist you with the same energy, friendliness and professionalism that your are used to. But we are also using this time to do some renovations at our center located at Kenyaways. It will include bigger facilities, new chill out areas and of course upgraded equipment.... More news following shortly!

During this time we will not be available via phone, but only via email to info@h2o-extreme.com or kathi@h2o-extreme.com and of course through our contact form on this website. Please bear with us if we are not always answering immediately, we will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks!

We are looking forward to welcoming you back on the beach!

Windsurfing now based on Galu Beach

Windsurfing base moved from The Sands at Nomad to Kenyaways Kite Village

Windsurfing Sails at Almanara

Since the beginning of the Kuzi season our windsurfing center is not based at Nomads anymore, but also at the Kenyaways Kite Village on Galu Beach. We still provide water sports activities to all guests from Nomads and offer free transportation to the kite village.

We can now serve windsurfing and kitesurfing clients at the same spot: Galu Beach is THE hot spot for all water sports addicts in Diani as this stretch of beach always has enough water to be active, even at a low spring tide.

New equipment arrived: To complement the good news we received a bunch of new equipment including sails from Severne, boards from Starboard and harnesses from Prolimit.

H2O offers windsurfing lessons from 25 € and windsurfing rentals from 15 € per hour. There is some small beginner equipment available, ideal to get the youngest ones going.

If you are interested in learning how to windsurf or if you have any additional questions please contact us via info@h2o-extreme.com or 0712 121 974.

EABR LAMU TO ZANZIBAR

Lamu to Zanzibar Expedition 2017

In January 2017 a group of 9 kitesurfers and windsurfers attempted to navigate the full length of the Kenyan Coast, from Lamu to Zanzibar, in order to create awareness and raise funds for local marine conservation charities (Local Ocean Trust and African Billfish Foundation).

Lamu to Zanzibar1.jpg

They followed the ancient trade routes, from the spice island of Lamu on Kenya's northern border to Zanzibar in Tanzania.

The straight-line distance between the 2 spice islands is 500 kilometers but they covered nearly twice that as they zig-zagged their way down the East African coastline.

The 7 kitesurfers and 2 windsurfers were all born in Kenya and include: Boris Polo, Craig, Jason and Marc Rogers, Nic Cahill, Justin Aniere, Alessandro and Stefano Rabbiosi, and George Issaias.

All were experienced watermen but none had sailed the full length of the route before. The most experienced amongst them was Jason Rogers who holds the World Record (distance) having kited 1,200 kms down the Great Barrier Reef in Australia in 2015.

In nine legs they went from:

1. Lamu to Kipini

2. Kipini to Che Shale

3. Che Shale to Kilifi

4. Kilifi to Mombasa

5. Mombasa to Diani

6. Diani to Shimoni

7. Shimoni to Tanga

8. Tanga to Pangani

9. Pangani to Zanzibar

Always in sight was a support boat to help out in case of any emergency.

Luckily in the end everyone made it to Zanzibar with a few blisters here and there, sunburned lips and noses and some other minor complaints.

It was a tough journey, but a once in a lifetime experience that nobody will forget that quickly.

The East African Board Riders managed to raise almost 10,000 £ in order to support the African Billfish Foundation and the Local Ocean Trust.

We hope for further projects in the future. Great job!
